About

Hello, I'm Lauren Shum! I have a B.S.E. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Duke University, where I researched thin-film organic photovoltaics and led the Duke Smart Home, a residential cleantech makerspace — I lived there myself for 2 years. In the past, I've been a Product Development intern for LP Amina, an energy engineering company in Beijing seeking to purge pollution from coal combustion. While there, I developed process parameter calculation tools, picked up heat-exchange-related Mandarin on the fly, and hiked all over China (the picture up top is from Wutai Shan, Shanxi Province). I also worked on software infrastructure supporting a team of 100 engineers at Opower (since acquired by Oracle).

I'm extremely interested in sustainability issues and technology, and using the latter to address the former. If we have anything in common, I'd love to hear from you!
